STRENGTHEN | STRETCH | ALIGN | YOUR BODY
The Full Story
Karen Hartnett has worked as a professional personal trainer in the fitness industry for the past 32 years and has been the owner of Divine Strength Fitness in Lakeway, Texas for 23 years. She recently closed her storefront to focus on her online ministry and the promotion of her book The Divine Strength Diet Plan. God's Way to Eating and Living a Balanced Life."
Her passion for fitness started at the age of 18 when she started competing in both bodybuilding and Ms. Fitness competitions. This love quickly turned into her career while she attended business school at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. She is certified by AFAA and the Cooper Clinic but credits her 30 years of experience as her real educator.
Karen has worked with clients as young as 18 and as old as 92. She calls herself a Restorative Personal Trainer (a name she coined) because she assists the body in restoring its function, flexibility, and mobility all while developing strength. She truly believes that what she does takes personal training to a new level. "Why would I want to put stress on joints, muscles, and tendons when they are tight from inactivity or stress? The key to building a strong and balanced body is to address these issues first." Says Karen.
Karen takes a "wholistic" approach to the body by designing fitness programs that include strengthening muscles but also stretching and aligning them as well all while building her client's cardio fitness. She also believes that her approach is part of a healing process God uses to bring restoration and function back into her client's bodies physically and now she's excited to incorporate her restorative methods into her online programming as well.
"Most of my clients have muscle compensations and misalignments in the joints that have developed over time and are causing them pain, discomfort, and immobility. However, by unlocking the body through specific alignment and flexibility exercises, most pain, stiffness and discomfort can be relieved and or stopped."
